Undeniably, emotions are still at an all-time high due to the recent royal wedding of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle, a marriage witnessed by the whole world. It’s crazy when you think about how their relationship started, right? I mean, a friend introduced them; can my friends step up and set me up with a Prince, please? But this wedding was a huge milestone. He not only didn’t marry someone of royalty, but also an American! Last time this happened in the British royal family, Prince Edward had to abdicate the throne! Anyways, I’m off topic. Thanks to the royal wedding, other couples are getting excited about their own engagement and upcoming nuptials. Many are comparing their own happily ever afters and putting themselves in Meghan’s size 7 shoes, which are probably glass slippers, who are we kidding?
Now, if you are thinking of taking inspiration from Prince Harry’s proposal, first start by considering the engagement ring. The first step in every engagement is the actual acquisition of the ring. When it comes to Meghan’s ring, there was a lot of thought involved.
THE Engagement Ring
Unsurprisingly, the prince added a very personal touch with the engagement ring given to Meghan. It was reported in an interview that the ring was designed by the prince himself – a stunning yellow gold custom ring, with a center stone and diamonds on the side, as seen below.
Another interesting fact about the ring is that the side diamonds came from Princess Diana’s own collection. This was done with the thought that the prince’s mother would be not only at the wedding, but together in their journey as a couple (aw). The main stone was sourced from Botswana, the place where they stayed for Meghan’s birthday, but also where Harry spent a lot of his childhood growing up. It is also set on a golden band, which is reported to be Markle’s favorite.
The truth is, Meghan Markle’s engagement ring was around $350,000, so many Americans may not have that much cash lying around (average is around $5-$7,000 for a ring)! However, for the rest of us who don’t have this kind of money, what can we take from his proposal and apply it to our own?

It’s a personal touch that will let them know that you’re the one.
Maybe your partner values family, so you may want to incorporate your, or your partner’s, parents in the concept of the ring.
